Localization

The new omlox localization standard was created by the PROFIBUS user organization in order to implement the vision of manufacturer-independent indoor localization. As market penetration has not yet been fully ensured due to the novelty of the standard and it is currently still unclear how well tests and certifications for this technology will work, Fraunhofer IOSB-INA is striving to advance this development and support it with its expertise in indoor localization. In view of this, Fraunhofer IOSB-INA operates an omlox test laboratory authorized by the PROFIBUS user organization with the aim of contributing to the success of the omlox standard and shaping the future of indoor positioning and navigation.

The aim is to promote manufacturer-independent localization for the general public and to develop new solutions in the field of localization testing. In the world's first omlox test laboratory, Fraunhofer IOSB-INA in Lemgo examines real devices from companies on their behalf and is constantly developing the laboratory and tests further.
