To realize a vision system capable of performing a specific task, as well as to determine how accurate and how resource-intensive the solution will be, our department operates an image evaluation center and a multi-sensor, multi-application laboratory. Our wide range of experimental facilities includes hyperspectral imaging equipment for inspection across the wavelength range from UV to NIR, experimental systems for sorting bulk materials (on a belt, with a chute, or in free fall), measurement setups for 3D and surface inspection, equipment for characterizing materials, and a clean room for sensitive components.
With our equipment we characterise the separation properties of your sample.
- Spectral characteristics from UV (240 nm) to IR
- Imaging analysis 400 nm - 2,500 nm
- X-ray
- Polarimetry
- Microscopy
- Wet chemical and physical analysis
The Karlsruhe Centre for Material Signatures KCM determines the spectral signature of your material for you. No matter whether for food, plastics or minerals. Every material has its specific spectral signature. We develop sorting or enrichment solutions for your material using the spectral signature.
The Karlsruhe Center for Material Signatures KCM is an association of institutes of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and the Inspection and Optronic Systems business unit of Fraunhofer Institute of Optronics, System Technologies and Image Exploitation IOSB.
