Fraunhofer SIRIOS – Center for the Security of Socio-Technical Systems
Fraunhofer SIRIOS was launched in Berlin at the beginning of 2022 (press release). The cross-institute Fraunhofer center focuses entirely on public safety: With SIRIOS, a unique research, testing and training environment for coupled simulations of complex security scenarios such as natural disasters or attacks is being created. Such scenarios are to be simulatively experienced and controlled within the framework of SIRIOS, in order to ultimately increase security and resilience in society.
As Fraunhofer IOSB, we contribute our competence and experience in the following topics, among others:
- intelligent, privacy-respecting video surveillance
- geoinformation systems
- situation awareness
- digitalization and cyber security of utility infrastructures
To this end, researchers from our departments Information Management and Production Control, Interactive Analysis and Diagnosis, Cognitive Energy Systems, Underwater Robotics and Video Exploitation Systems are collaborating on site at Fraunhofer SIRIOS in Berlin.
In addition to Fraunhofer IOSB, the Fraunhofer Institute for High-Speed Dynamics, Ernst-Mach-Institut, EMI, for Open Communication Systems FOKUS and for Transportation and Infrastructure Systems IVI are involved in SIRIOS.
