Dr. Szymon Gładysz leads the Adaptive Optics Group at Fraunhofer IOSB. He obtained his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Galway in 2007. He then worked at European Southern Observatory in Garching (Germany) and at Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. He joined Fraunhofer IOSB in 2012.
He has been awarded several awards and grants, e.g. from University of California, US Air Force and US Navy and has authored or co-authored around 150 publications on light propagation through random media and adaptive optics in journals and conference proceedings. He has served as conference chair and committee member on various OSA and SPIE conferences. In 2022-2023 he served as Topical Editor for Applied Optics (OSA/Optica). In the same period, he was Associate Editor and since 2023 he has acted as Senior Editor for Optical Engineering (SPIE).
