Industry 4.0 leads to a massive increase in the attack surface on these systems, among other things due to the progressive networking of components and systems. At the same time, the Industrie 4.0 trends towards the intercooperation of tools and components, digital twins and asset administration shells, make it possible for the first time to automatically create extensive, machine-interpretable images of IT/OT productive systems without compromising them.
Based on this, Fraunhofer IOSB is researching knowledge-based, automated analysis solutions for identifying vulnerabilities, configuration errors, inconsistencies, attack vectors and other security problems. The solutions take into account both specific requirements and the complete life cycle of IT/OT systems.
Fraunhofer IOSB offers the development of prototypical applications for model-based security analysis, for individual areas of application, which can, for example, identify configuration errors or cross-system inconsistencies or improve previous detection and monitoring systems.
In addition, Fraunhofer IOSB provides research results and prototypical tools to further develop the field of automated safety analysis and offers its expertise in this area both for consulting and in the context of research cooperations.
