Evaluation of Sensors and Image Exploitation Components

Due to the increasing complexity of human-machine systems in aerial and satellite image analysis, their evaluation is becoming more and more important. In particular, the interaction between sensor, data processing, evaluation system and human being has to be optimized. The evaluation serves as decision support for the selection of suitable systems and their components.

At the IOSB, evaluation procedures are developed and applied which allow the measurement of user performance on the system under evaluation. Besides objective measurement results, subjective assessments are used to derive recommendations for the design of future systems for image evaluation.

An important aspect of the investigations is the early involvement of the users in the evaluation process.
