Short description of the project
The project will realize a network of Digital Twins as a key enabler for Manufacturing-as-a-Service (MaaS), where production and manufacturing are offered as a service. Tec4MaaSEs provides a comprehensive DT-based framework for value networks, which enables greater resilience and sustainability across the entire value network with continuous evaluation and monitoring of performance through a multilevel balanced scorecard system.
Highly configurable, the solution will be able to respond to the varying supply and demand of individual stakeholders. This flexibility makes it possible to evaluate alternatives and react appropriately, while improving the understanding of the impact of external disruptions.
Objectives
Tec4MaaSEs aims to deploy a network of Digital Twins (DT), equipped with trustworthiness and cognition, to co-operate in a distributed manner within a value network as core enablers of Manufacturing-as-a-Service (MaaS) practices in resilient supply chains with multiple stakeholders.
The Tec4MaaSEs technologies will be developed for and trialed in 3 real use cases (Value Networks): electronic cards for white goods, additive manufacturing for injection molding and facilities construction for hydrogen production.
Our contribution
Based on Industrie 4.0 standards, IOSB will extend its open source development FA³ST (Fraunhofer Advanced Asset Administration Shell Tools) for Digital Twins to support capabilities and composite digital twins for use in the pilot implementations of the project value networks.
IOSB is also a major contributor to the development of the MaaS information model and reference architecture based on its previous work with Smart Factory Web and DiSc-Ecosystem (https://disc-ecosystem.com/).
IOSB will also lead the standardization activities related to AAS-compliant digital twins in collaboration with the IDTA (International Digital Twin Association) as well as the modelling of capabilities within the joint sub-working group ”Semantics and interaction for I4.0 components” under VDI/VDE-Gesellschaft Mess- und Automatisierungstechnik (GMA; Association of German Engineers in measurement and automation technology) and Plattform Industrie 4.0.
