Motivation
In the course of digitization and industry 4.0, the requirements for modern production facilities are constantly increasing. The protection of assets, including the three overlapping areas of safety, security and privacy, is becoming a key challenge for today´s manufacturing systems. Since humans, robots and machines work in close proximity to each other, it is of decisive importance that the components of the system, for example robots, do not injure anyone (safety). Furthermore, the system must be protected against external or internal attacks (security). In addition, with the increasing volume and variety of data processed in manufactoring enviroments, the protection of the employees´ data must be ensured (privacy).
Research of the department Interactive Analysis and Diagnosis
Under the supervision of the Institute for Anthropomatics and Robotics at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation IPA and the Fraunhofer Institute of Optronics, System Technologies and Image Exploitation IOSB are collaborating on this exciting challenge.
