Digitalization and networking

We develop concepts and technologies to make data and information derived from it available in groups in a timely and needs-based manner. This enables a consistent, shared picture of the situation, even across different branches of the armed forces and different countries.

Our systems enable the interoperable storage, distribution, and management of relevant data and information in accordance with NATO standards, even across system and jurisdiction boundaries. IT security and data sovereignty are taken into account throughout.

Using semantic and data-driven AI processes, we enable the filtering, prioritization, evaluation, and combination of relevant data and information along the sensor-effect chain, as well as its needs-based preparation and downstream analysis. Another important issue here is how AI-generated data, information, and models are handled.

In order to maximize the benefits of ISR systems – the abbreviation stands for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance – through improved data acquisition planning, we are researching approaches for optimized deployment planning of available resources (sensor/sensor carrier combinations).

We develop concepts and solutions for the seamless cooperation of teams of unmanned systems (UxS), which are increasingly becoming a key instrument in civil and military operations, and for the implementation of their cross-domain interoperability.

With our solutions and competencies, we contribute to multinational, cross-domain national and alliance defense and provide essential building blocks for the future multi-domain operations (MDO) capability of the Bundeswehr.
