Safe food and sustainable agriculture, processing and sorting systems

At a time of growing resource scarcity and increasingly complex challenges in the agricultural and food industry, advanced technologies offer indispensable solutions. AgriTech and smart farming are revolutionizing food production methods and promoting more sustainable and efficient agriculture.

By integrating comprehensive industry knowledge with modern digital technologies, we address the most significant challenges of today. Our range of services includes AI-supported analysis systems and innovative image recognition technologies—tailored solutions that help farmers make informed decisions while reducing their environmental impact.

From the perspective of sustainable action, resource efficiency and recycling of valuable materials also play a key role. Sensor-based sorting systems have been considered a key technology in this field for many years. We are experts in sensor-based sorting systems, researching new solutions for previously unsolved sorting tasks and implementing them. Our developments aim to overcome existing technological limitations and thus develop successful solutions for unsolved sorting problems. Our focus is on sensor selection, data acquisition, and real-time sensor data processing.

We cooperate with numerous other Fraunhofer Institutes and research partners from a wide range of disciplines. This large network enables us to tackle highly interdisciplinary issues relating to sensor-based sorting and develop the sorting solutions of tomorrow.
