Hannover Messe 2022 – Digitalization and Sustainability

After a break of two years, the time has finally come again this year: HANNOVER MESSE will be staged as a physical trade fair from 30 May to 02 June 2022 – supplemented by a comprehensive range of digital services.

In June, Hannover Messe will be the world's first major industrial trade fair and, with its focus on Digitalization and Sustainability, will provide clear impetus for innovative, efficient production and climate protection.

AutoInspect – Digital 3D Twin for systematic sensor deployment planning and sensor data fusion

The exhibit shows an exemplary infrastructure solution that combines various inspection methods such as ellipsometry or deflectometry and merges the captured features with metadata precisely on a 3D model of the test specimen - in this case a car body. On this basis, a wide range of evaluations are possible, from simple statistics to AI/ML methods. The principle will be explained in detail at the trade show booth - a live link to the Karlsruhe research factory will show the current status of our solution.

drag&sense

Drag & sense enables the simple implementation of interaction systems without extensive programming knowledge. Using flow-based programming, standardized components can be easily connected to form an interaction system. The parameterization of the individual system components is just as easy. System configurations created can easily be saved and loaded. It is operated conveniently via a web-based user interface in the web browser.

AI enables immature manufacturing processes – the Karlsruhe Research Factory

The new Karlsruhe Forschungsfabrik® (Karlsruhe Research Factory) is a manufacturing, development and test environment for AI-based enabling of immature manufacturing processes. We use the term “immature processes” for processes that have not yet been fully optimized, because they utilize new methods, process new materials or complex interactions occur between the raw material, the state of the process, and external influences. The idea behind AI-based rapid maturation is to implement processes and manufacture products on an industrial scale at a very early stage.

AI-based solution for automated real-time detection of IT attacks in electrical networks

The threat to energy supply systems from cyber attacks has rarely been as great as in recent weeks and months. Fraunhofer researchers have now successfully developed an AI-based method to automatically check network traffic between the electrical grid and the control system for conspicuous patterns or anomalies in real time.

ISuTest^® – Automated vulnerability scanning for industrial automation components

The Industrial Security Testing Framework ISuTest® is a tool for finding vulnerabilities in the implementations of automation components. ISuTest® is designed as an open, extensible framework and thus sets itself apart from commercial competitors with closed-source software. The direct target group of ISuTest® are manufacturers and integrators of automation components. It supports its users from the setup of a vulnerability test to the execution to the isolation of vulnerabilities to the post-processing of the bug to the developer, who can subsequently fix it.

Collaborative production: standardized and sovereign data exchange in a digital twin

This demonstrator shows both the engineering, operation, and collaboration of AAS complaint DTs in a cross-enterprise scenario. The production DT, which is created and configured based on an existing OPC UA server, and the product DTs, which are dynamically created based on product specifications, interact with each other via AAS APIs and with external actors via IDS connectors. Several FA³ST tools will be presented to show how developers, domain experts, and end users can benefit from both AAS and IDS technologies.

open62541 - Open source OPC UA stack

open62541 is an open implementation of OPC UA, the world language of machine-to-machine communication. It was developed in significant parts at Fraunhofer IOSB and it is programmed in C throughout. This makes the software extremely resource-efficient, so that it runs on any type of hardware, from small embedded systems to large production plants.

PAISE^® – Process Model for AI Systems Engineering of the Competence Center CC-KING

AI Systems Engineering addresses the systematic development and operation of AI-based solutions as part of systems that perform complex tasks – for example in industrial production. The process model PAISE (Process Model for AI Systems Engineering) provides a methodological blueprint for the collaboration of engineers and data scientists. Digital Bridge Hanover - Lemgo: Experience the SmartFactoryOWL at the Hannover Messe

AI demonstrator VALVE

AI - Demonstrator at the it's OWL joint booth, area “Mittelstand Digital Zentrum”: This demonstrator shows the application of AI using anomaly detection in the process industry.

Here, sensors examine data from waterways, fill levels and pumps for deviations from normal conditions and issue warnings at an early stage.

Industrial APP Marketplace

In the future, APPs (software) for Industrie 4.0 applications will be purchased on online marketplaces. An open community of various players from the Ostwestfalen-Lippe region and beyond is currently discussing and working out what a solution based on open source developments might look like. The Industrial App Marketplace is a prototype of such a marketplace, where different machines can purchase upgrades and controls for new use cases – for example, autonomous transport systems or robots.

Research project “DC-INDUSTRIE”: Smart Warehouse Demonstrator

The demonstrator shows on the one hand the aspects of technical mapping as a digital twin with control via the Asset Administration Shell in OPC UA in the processing of logistics orders, and on the other hand the energetic self-optimization of the motor control with the help of artificial intelligence.
