The main objective of the Tulipp project is to provide vision-based system designers with a reference platform (hardware solution, operating system and programming tool chain) for powerful and energy-efficient image processing embedded systems. New standards resulting from the industry reference platform will be proposed.
The criteria for Tulipp are defined below:
- A set of guidelines for selecting relevant combinations of computing and communication resources to be instantiated in the resulting platform while minimising energy consumption and reducing development costs and time-to-market
- A generic architecture that masters the organisation of I / Os, computations, memory resources and management of idle phases with the aim of making the best use of resources
- Resource management capabilities to coordinate and dynamically transform computing resources between a state of efficient activity and a state of non-consuming inactivity
- Design tools that help the designer to assess different possible allocations of his application across the heterogeneous architecture and to select the most energy-efficient solutions
The four main objectives of the Tulipp project are summarised below:
- Objective 1: Define a reference platform for high-performance machine vision applications
- Objective 2: Instantiate the reference platform through use cases Applications
- Objective 3: Demonstrate and plan improvements in defined key performance indicators
- Objective 4: Putting in place and managing a stakeholder ecosystem to enhance image processing standards
