IAA MOBILITY consists of two event areas with different durations: The Open Space in downtown Munich is open to the general public free of charge from Sept. 5 to 10, 2023 (Tuesday to Sunday).
The IAA Summit (including the IAA Conference) is aimed exclusively at trade visitors and is subject to a fee. This B2B event will take place at the Munich Exhibition Center on weekdays from Sept. 5 to 8, 2023.
VTOL experimental platform ALBACOPTER®
Transferring parts of urban traffic into the air is no longer a dream of the future. Within the Fraunhofer ALBACOPTER® lead project, a flying experimental platform with the vertical take-off and landing capability of a multicopter and the aerodynamic advantages of a glider is to be developed and approved for test and demonstration flights.
Under the leadership of the Fraunhofer IVI, the goal is to realize several variants and expansion stages of platforms for the demonstration of the individual technologies. Thus, in a first step, the all-electric ALBACOPTER® 0.5 with a maximum take-off weight (MTOW) of 125 kg is being developed.
Six Fraunhofer Institutes (IVI, LBF, ICT, IOSB, IEM, IMS) are contributing their expertise and technologies from the fields of mobility, materials science, energy and drive technology, mechatronics, microelectronics, sensor, communication, automation and production technology, and artificial intelligence to this ambitious research project.
As IOSB, this includes flight planning or routing, real-time diagnosis of critical in-flight conditions, and the development of the "digital twin" of the ALBACOPTER® in the open simulation platform OCTANE, which is being developed under the leadership of IOSB.
The simulation environment and the digital twin of the ALBACOPTER® can be experienced as an exhibit at the IAA.
